The weather was on a gloomy side… the pouring rain has just started to stop and it was still drizzling.
So what shall we do on such a cold, wet night? Lets do BAK KUT TEH! ( i have no idea what’s it called in english)

We were around the corner (in IKEA actually) so we took a drive towards the kepong LDP toll and headed for our yummy destination. This particular Bak Kut Teh shop is along the Kepong main road. It’s somewhere near the Kepong Jusco. We’ve been patrons of this shop for quite some time (even though we live quite a distance from kepong), but i particularly like the Bak kut teh here. The reason for it is because i find the base soup very refreshing and I love it’s chinese herbs. It does not have a whole lot of flavoring (ajinomoto) in it… and the taste of herbs are just too enticing.

Besides ordering the usual Bak Kut Teh, we also ordered the “zhu tho tong”- peppered pork stomach soup. Having this during a cold evening is bound to keep you warm the rest of the night. This little dish is made out of, pepper, chinese herbs, ginger and pig stomach. To me… wow… deliciously mouth watering.

With all that meat… to make the table a little more colourful and to keep a healthy diet… we also had the lettuce mixed with oyster sauce and fried shallots. And to top everything off….. chili padi for those whom loves chillies.

Besides all the dishes that we had, this place also serves, “zhu kiok cho”- vinegared pork knuckles..and “kai zhao”-drunken chicken.  The drunken chicken is a MUST TRY. I’m not much of a chicken fan, but the soup is absolutely delicious. This little dish is made out of chinese wine, chicken, red dates.. and more chinese herbs.

If you’re any where around kepong, be sure to go check them out, “Nippon Bak Kut Teh”. They are not hard to locate, so you have to keep your eyes open for the shop. They are open till the wee morning, so if you’re looking for a late night supper. go try them out.
